My maternity shoot with Rachel was just amazing from start to finish. She made me feel so comfortable and really understood that I wished for the shoot to be as natural as possible. Even down to the editing of the photos, Rachel listened to the couple of ideas I had and made just the perfect tweaks to the images I had chosen. I am overjoyed with the final results. Rachel is one of those people who is truly born to do what she does. She has the perfect balance of professionalism, friendliness, and reassurance that put me at ease right from the start.
Before booking my boudoir photoshoot, I thoroughly combed through her reviews because I was very nervous about the whole idea. Before the shoot we had a quick phone call to dispel any unknowns. She provided really clear email instructions of where to park etc to remove all of the planning and stress on my end.

From when we first saw Rachel's work, we knew that whenever we started a family we'd be going to Ruby Light Portraits for a newborn shoot. Now the time has come, we could not be more thrilled that we chose her to so beautifully capture these early moments of our little one. Before we even arrived at our booking, we were to complete a form so Rachel could understand what we wanted from the shoot and what things would best suit us, from the style of the photos to the colour schemes. When we arrived on the day she was lovely and welcoming and we instantly felt comfortable, and excited and in awe of the beautiful set up she had prepared for our shoot. She talked us through her overall plan for the session and showed us items she had selected from her wardrobe for me to wear. I then popped off next door for my makeover while my partner stayed with Rachel as she made a start on baby's first photos. We opted for a variety of photos, mostly of baby in different wraps or with beautiful little props, and some of us with baby too where Rachel was great in guiding us with what to do.
Both my partner and I were amazed at Rachel's way with our baby and just how patient she was in taking her time to get that perfect shot. As we saw her prepare baby for the next pictures we shared many a squeal in how cute everything was looking and just how great it was all going.
We were already blown away by our experience of the shoot itself, but seeing the edited photos was just something else! The turnaround was much faster than we'd expected, and we viewed the photos together online in a video call. This was a lovely way to get a first look, and I thought it was great that you don't need to confirm which package you would like to opt for until you'd seen the photos. WOW .. what an amazing experience, from start to finish .. I’ve wanted to do it for ages but never been brave enough after years of lower body confidence and hating what I look like in photos … so I decided to book a boudoir shoot for my husband’s 50th birthday ( was the push I needed) .. Right from the start when I booked after speaking to Rachel on the phone she put me at ease… on the actual day I was so so nervous I couldn’t stop shaking but Rachel was incredible , from showing you herself how to stand / lay / pose to calming me down and constantly making me feel great … I have just had my zoom and seen my photos … I can’t believe it’s me , they are absolutely amazing better then I could have ever imagined… I can’t wait to show everyone. ‘Life changing’ is how I would sum up my experience of working with Rachel at Ruby Light Portraits!
From my first contact Email to ask about a photoshoot, through a few Emails backwards and forwards, a phone call where I felt really awkward to discuss what I is was looking for and the shoot itself, the entire experience was amazing.
It’s not every day men will contact a photographer to ask about photos being taken to capture a moment in their lives. And even less common that men want the photoshoot to really push their boundaries. Well, that’s what I was looking for…I am proud to say that I did it and that it exceeded my expectations. And apparently there’s even a name for it…it’s called ‘Dudoir!’
This was a deeply personal experience for me, to celebrate my hard work to get in shape and to mark a milestone birthday. Rachel got this right from the beginning as she took the time to understand what I wanted before we agreed to work together and booked a session.
This was not just a photographer taking a few pictures of her subject. Rachel had the session planned in advance, gave me guidance on how to pose and the ice was broken when I needed tips on how to take my shirt off! We both laughed about this and I was instantly able to relax and enjoy being in front of the camera.
The results of the photoshoot are so much more than I had ever expected and the experience has changed me. I have a renewed sense of confidence and realised what I can achieve when I push myself beyond my comfort zone.
I would like to thank Rachel for being encouraging, patient and understanding in helping me to get so much from my Dudoir experience. Rachel is an amazing person, I loved working with her and will definitely be back.

We had the most amazing time with Rachel. We did a couples shoot as we dont have many photos, despite being together for nearly 2 decades. My OH was extremely nervous, he hates having his photo taken, but Rachel managed to put him at ease almost immediately. The results speak for themselves. What an amazing experience!! Rachel made me feel 100% comfortable throughout the process. She really took the time to understand what I wanted as an end result. The pictures were unbelievable!! I honestly couldn’t believe how amazing I looked, such a great confidence experience. I booked this photoshoot partly as a 70th birthday present for my mum and partly for me (after some significant weight loss). After years of us both avoiding having our photo taken to say we were both nervous was an understatement. From the very beginning Rachel was warm and friendly and explained everything so I was clear on what to expect. The Make up artists clearly knew their stuff and we all had such a laugh. In fact, the whole session itself was an amazing experience and I was almost sorry when it ended. When we saw the photos, I was stunned. I have never felt pretty in my whole entire life, until that moment. Mum is so chuffed with how professional the photos look and how Rachel can bring out the absolute best of you. I simply cannot thank her enough. This was the best decision I have made and basically I wouldn’t recommend anyone else.

I'd been following Rachel at Ruby Lights Portraits on Facebook for about a year, after having a similar photoshoot with a different company. I decided to treat myself for my 50th birthday this year. Well, Rachel blew the socks off the other company. From the first point of contact Rachel made me feel at ease and I knew this would be great experience. The whole day was very relaxed, fun and a friendly atmosphere, I didn't feel weird or uncomfortable being in my underwear at all!

I had this done for my partner for our wedding day. The day from start to finish was amazing- the lady who did my hair and make up was a wizard and managed to transform me! Rachel made me feel at ease as soon as we met we had a good laugh during the session as she contoured me into some strange positions. When she showed me the final photos I had to do a double take to checks it was me - I had a tear in my eye - the photographer presented the photos to my partner on the morning of the wedding he loved them it was all he could talk about all day - this experience should be prescribed on the NHS for anyone who is feeling down or lost confidence if I am I just look at the photos and smile xxxxxx

Rachel paid attention to me and the images and poses I sent her ahead of the shoot, Rachel also spent time with me in her special separate room for consultation looking at the outfits I had brought and helping me out with the combinations.
Then there's the aftercare, the speed of developing the images and follow up discussions on which should appear in my portfolio is such a good service.
I have been given hope, innermost confidence and in some way a spiritual boost, just simple things like discussing life during the shoot made such a difference to me, and the fact Rachel would like to see me again on my journey of developing body means a lot to me.
It's more than just a day in a lovely studio with a lovely person getting photographs.
All this from one Google search and one phone call.

Rachel is one of the nicest people you will ever meet! She put me at ease straight away and I loved every second of my shoot! I had a boudoir/bridal photoshoot as a surprise for my husband on the morning of the wedding and he was blown away (it’s all he could talk about for the next 2 days). Rachel is a true professional and I left with so much more confidence than when I walked it and was blown away with the photos (couldn’t believe the positions she was able to get me in). In September 2019 I felt like my whole world fell apart when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Suddenly it felt like someone had pressed pause on my life as I entered 6 months of chemotherapy. I could actually cope with losing my hair thanks to an amazing wig, but once you lose your eyebrows your whole face changes and that’s when my confidence took a hit.
My treatment was going to plan and I was nearing the end of my chemo when lockdown happened. My last round of chemo was cancelled and my surgery was put on hold. My confidence hit rock bottom – being told you can’t get close to your own children or husband in your own home was really hard.
I had a mastectomy in the summer of 2020, however due to COVID, reconstruction at that time was not an option for me. I finished 2020 with radiotherapy and since then I have been getting used to my new body. My hair is now long again and my confidence has improved, however I felt I needed to give it a boost and do something totally out of my comfort zone – and that’s where Rachel came in.
I’m quite a shy person and did look at a few photographers offering boudoir photography, but none of them really hit the bill, I wanted something classy and that’s exactly what I got with Rachel.
I had a nude baby bump photograph done elsewhere when I was pregnant with my first son 16 years ago and I’ve always hated how it turned out as I look really awkward and uncomfortable.
This photo shoot and the results were totally different – from the minute I walked through the door Rachel and Sasha put me at ease (I was extremely nervous). I’d never had my makeup done, not even on my wedding day, so that was a real treat and I felt amazing. Rachel was so friendly, helpful and encouraging, yet so professional. She was so careful with positioning the camera so not to draw attention to my mastectomy side, which is exactly what I wanted, and was very clear in giving instructions to get me in some wonderful poses. I cannot recommend Rachel enough!
First shoot: A surprise engagement shoot for one of my sisters! We told her it was a family shoot (two little boys and partner), little did she know 💍💖 Rachel captured some precious moments to hold onto for a lifetime not only of the engagement but of them as a family unit (with mum in the picture! How often does that happen ladies)
Second shoot: A newborn shoot for my other sister, she was so nervous about going and only really wanted pictures of her newborn and her little boy (very self conscious) but once we all got chatting Rachel had reassured her there was nothing to worry about and we ended up with some pictures that included mum 💞 (I also believe Rachel is the baby whisperer, little one was so content)
Third shoot: My turn and I went for a boudoir shoot! I have never been so nervous in my life and can I just say, what for!!
I had my hair and makeup done by Charlotte (amazing by the way, that woman can work wonders) there was such a chilled atmosphere, conversation just flowed, nothing felt forced or awkward, the guidance in how to pose was literally step by step, you can’t go wrong! I have just received my images and I am sat here now grinning like a Cheshire Cat! That’s me, I can’t believe it!!
I have been so, so happy with each of the shoots and each of them hold special memories and moments for completely different reasons. I cannot wait to be able to book Rachel again, I’m thinking of reasons! She is such an amazing photographer to be able to capture these moments and to make you feel it each and every time you look at the images after, that is in my opinion the definition of photographer!

I booked couple of sessions - pregnancy and new born. Rachel is such a talented and lovely person. She really tries to understand your likes, dislikes and get the best out of you.
The studio is really large and she has great taste for dresses collection. I love all of them. The pictures I got are the best of my life time - very professional. Before coming to Rachel I enquired many places but the reason I went with Ruby lights is big studio, lovely ambience, dresses collection. And I never regret!

I recently had a boudoir photoshoot and I loved it. I was quite nervous as I had never done anything similar but both Rachel and the Make Up Artist were very warm and friendly. I felt like a model for the day and really liked the results as well. It was really a confidence boost and I am planning on repeating the experience at some point :)

We cannot recommend Rachel at Ruby lights enough!! Following a recommendation from my sister after seeing Rachel’s work on Instagram, we booked Ruby lights for our first ever maternity shoot. From the very beginning Rachel made us both feel incredibly comfortable (quite a task with my shy husband!), I felt so comfortable I ended up doing a fully nude photo which I never would have done in my wildest dreams! Communication was always excellent and I absolutely loved having my hair and make up done and choosing from all the incredible outfits. I felt like a million dollars which is quite hard to achieve when heavily pregnant! The photos Rachel took were beautiful, timeless and artistic, not your typical maternity photo shoot poses which is what we loved. Based on our maternity experience, we went back to Rachel for our newborn shoot (cancelling a booking with another photographer) and I’m so glad we did. The photos are absolutely gorgeous and Rachel couldn’t have been more accommodating, patient or friendly on the day. We’re really looking forward to going back for our Christmas shoot in a few months time. If you’re looking for a maternity, newborn or family photographer to capture any of your special moments we absolutely recommend Rachel 100%. There isn’t a more talented photographer around, you won’t be disappointed!

Absolutely amazing day!! From makeup, hair to photoshoot every minute of it was just stunning. Rachel makes you feel so relaxed and Charlotte makes you feel gorgeous with the makeover. I was so nervous about going but all nerves went as soon as I got inside. If you haven't already had one, the best thing you will ever do for yourself is have a boudoir shoot at Ruby Lights!!! You will not regret it!

Amazing experience with Rachel and Ruby Lights! I contacted Rachel about doing a boudoir shoot ahead of my wedding as a present for my husband-to-be. I was quite nervous as this is very much out of my comfort zone but she put me at ease from our first call and I ended up having so much fun on the day. The make up artist did a great job and Rachel makes everything so easy, gently directing you into position and she is so passionate and excited about the process- it really shines though. I left feeling awesome and was so excited to see the finished product. I now have seen my gallery of photos and was blown away- Rachel really has a gift for showing women at their best and if you need a confidence boost then go for it! We had a maternity and a newborn shoot - both were absolutely amazing; Rachel was so calm and chilled with us that any worries or self-consciousness melted away and we were able to enjoy the session. She got some amazing shots, and incorporated a couple of very special items seamlessly. There was no pressure to buy or upgrade our package (although we did due to the quality of the photos). We'll def be back for more.

Rachel photographed my beautiful friends Maternity portraits recently- I live in australia and am a photographer and wished I could have been there to photograph her myself but when I couldn’t I had to contact rachel My friend Beth’s maternity photos were absolute perfection! Gorgeous makeup and hair, beautiful gowns for her to use and the most precious memories were captured. Rachel went above and beyond and I could not recommend her more! I don’t even know where to start.. Rachel as a person is so wonderful, kind, witty and just a beautiful person. She made me and my partner feel so comfortable and welcomed, we never wanted to leave! The whole experience was incredible, and I am so excited to bring my baby back for his newborn shoot. When looking for a maternity photographer Rachel came highly recommended to me. After looking at her website her photography style was exactly what I was looking for. Rachel completely put me at ease throughout the photo shoot and the photographs are more than I could have wished for. By being so happy with the photoshoot I booked in for a newborn photo shoot with my little girl. Rachel finds out exactly what you would like, doesn’t rush you, allows time for feeding and changing, colour changes and is in regular contact. Would recommend Rachel to anyone. Katie“Rache was amazing, the maternity shoot with myself, husband and little boy she made us feel so comfortable and ensured I got the pictures I really wanted despite my last minute requests Zach loved the whole experience I've never seen him take direction from anyone as well as he did, when been asked to get into position. it's all down to Rachel's kind manner. The newborn shoot was equally as enjoyable, I was really apprehensive as had a 8 day old baby and a 3 year old, if I'm honest I thought it was going to be really stressful and a nightmare but it was brilliant and now have pictures that we will cherish forever. BryonyAfter having such an amazing experience when having my maternity shoot and the photos turned out outstanding, I just had to contact again and have a family/ newborn photo shoot...made me feel at home, spoke to myself and my daughter through the steps didnt rush us at all, constant use of having coffee and tea and I can’t forget the delicious biscuits you get .. ( my daughter may of eaten the whole jar full or was it my husband haha ) I would highly recommend to anyone who would like any family, newborn and maternity shoots, ruby light portraits is the one ❤️xx
AlinaI would say very honest that Rachel is the best. The way she made me feel when i had the maternity photoshoot is beyond me being able to describe it in words. She build up the confidence in me and like that i was being able to do some photos that at first i thought i wouldnt. After having the maternity photoshoot we went back and had the newborn as well. In each picture she takes you can see how much she loves what she is doing and how dedicated she is. Thank you Rachel once again for helping us to create so beautiful memories!

I have never really had the chance to have professional shoot taken for us before and after seeing Rachel's work it was a no brainer. The photos are like a work of art. i decided after the horrendous year ive had to look after me! i needed to remind myself who i was and what i deserve. i saw so many stunning transformations and soon booked in. Rachel was fully booked for half the year and i was lucky to get in when i did. i screenshot so many images before hand to recreate and on the day i couldn't drive to her home quick enough. charlotte did my hair and make up and made me feel like a hollywood goddess!!! just wow!! i wanted to go sainsburys to do the shop afterwards just to show off 😂 rach did a shoot plan with the items i brought with me and we were soon underway. i wasnt nervous just joked my way through the shoot.. i could of spent all day there i loved being made to feel like a saucy queen for the day. i really appreciate you listening to my lifes dramas Rachel and making me feel like i am worth it!!! you are a life saver to all women xxxx’’
